But people were making VA predictions last time, and I really can’t not see this happening. She’s already got multiple prominent roles lined up, and being a Tales heroine is a pretty big deal considering their history

Blue-kun: 2/9

• Sangatsu no Lion anniemay – ‘Cause 2013 didn’t deliver, so 2014 will be the year where an announcement will be made regarding the cartoon version of Sangatsu no Lion.
• Ookiku Furikabutte S3 – Another leftover from 2013, here’s hoping Japan gets their shit together and brings back the best baseball show. Also, I need more realistic depictions of friendship between males as seen by the eyes of a woman.
• Nana Mizuki x Takanori Nishikawa (T.M Revolution) relationship/marriage confirmed – ‘Cause Anime Bingo is Nana Tabloid Bingo for me. Last year I tried the usual Sakurai pairing, but we’ve been waiting for that one over the years and it never happened. Now Nana probably moved on after working a full year next to the king of fabulousness that is TMR, so I expect them to start dating. They’re both in their 30s (OKAY TMR IS IN HIS 40s) and TMR needs to find love after being betrayed by his ex-wife, Nana is the purest girl of them all, the king and queen deserve to be together and give birth to the most awesome music baby to ever grace the japanese music industry.
• Symphogear S4 annnounced at year’s end Sympho S3 live – I might actually get owned by this one cause the announcement for S3 was made later than usual, so there might not even be a live at the end of the year. Still, this is how things have gone so far, so…. As Genjurou would say: S4 DATO?!
• Girls’ Work not to be released in 2014 – It’s not coming, guys.
• Kimi no Iru Machi S2/new OAD series announced – I hope I’m wrong with this, but basically Seo has fucked up the manga once again and it seems like he wants to drag, and there’s some announcement being teased for Issue 11 or whatever. Apparently the series sold far more than the usual Gonzo shit shows they’ve made in the past years, so… I could see them making more.
• Hataraku Maou-sama! S2 announced – This one is kinda cheap and if it doesn’t happen I’ll be surprised. Show sold decently, they left it open for a sequel and there have been little hints here and there. Still, only putting this here because Maou actually owns and I want more. Please, White Fox.
• Michiru Oshima revealed to be composing for at least two new anime movie projects – This is kinda silly, but there’s been a retardedly huge number of anime movies with Oshima soundtracks as of late. Aura, Patema, Fuse, Hal… Basically, she seems to be the go-to composer for movies and I don’t really know how this came to be. Since one seemed like it might happen and not be much of a bet, I’m going for two different movies announced in 2014 that will have Oshima doing the music for them (see her take a rest this year).
• Shokugeki no Soma anime announced – Ran out of ideas, let’s go wishlist again. It seems to be popular, By the end of the year it’ll have 100+ chapters, so… believe it.

Reki: 2/9

• Non-TV Jojo anime – The success of the TV anime will make Araki see the light and OK another movie project. Hopefully SBR.
• New FKMT anime – A girl can dream. It has been a while since Kaiji S2, who would have thought that would ever happen in the first place. Sure it didn’t sell well, but that is what gambling is about right???
• Another Tomihiko Morimi project… – This is wishful thinking, the gap between Tatami Galaxy and Uchouten Kazoku was 2long.
• …which will be AOTY – Kind of cheating, but everything he touches is gold so whatever.
• Nobody will care about new Haruhi thing, whatever it is – Does the world really need more Haruhi? We have moved on.
• New full 3dcg tv show airs – Because why not
• SHAFT does an original IP – Maybe it won’t be madoka, that would be nice

• A new Gundam series is announced. – With Build Fighters and Unicorn coming to an end in 2014, Sunrise will need a new Gundam show (to push all those Gunpla of course). Perhaps The Origin [spoiler]or even Crossbone[/spoiler]
• Masami Obari directs an anime OP in 2014. – As someone who is known to direct anime OPs, someone who has directed OPs for 9 different shows in the last 3 years, this one almost feels like cheating.
• More concrete details for G-Reko (or whatever it’s called) – PV/release date. – Tomino’s new show has long been teased, it’s already had magazine articles. Tomino’s been working away on the storyboards and the animators are gearing up for production. It’s only a matter of time we see some footage from it, maybe even get a release date out of it.
• Tiger & Bunny Season 2 announced. – With the way season 1 ended I was surprised season 2 didn’t get announced, instead we got some movies. With the 2nd film coming out early 2014 I think we could see a s2 announced later in the year.
• A new Idolmaster anime will be announced. – The franchise has had a lot of momentum lately, a new season is no doubt given, probably announced after the movie.
• Ryo Imamura lives. – Shaft takes him out of their dungeon and has him work on something.
• Horizon Season 3 is announced. – One of the popular Sunrise Studio 8 shows, with Love Live and Buddy Complex starting off 2014, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of Horizon in the near future. St8 are known for their good schedules so LL & BC are probably already 80-90% completed thus I can imagine Horizon shooting for another summer airdate.
• Super Robot Wars OG Gaiden: Unified Wisdom Anime – C’mon, we need that OGG anime, it can even come out along side a new OG Game!
• Attack on Titan season 2 announced. – Self explanatory.

• Gen Urobuchi is announced to be working on a new project that he has had nothing to do with prior – Because why the hell not. Adaptations of his works and continuations (if he were attached to more Madoka, Psycho-Pass, Gargantia, etc.) don’t count, obviously. Doesn’t have to be anime, something like Kamen Rider Gaim would count.
• New Muv Luv anime adaptation announced – Because I want to see if we can get something even worse than Total Eclipse. Could be anything Muv Luv related.
• Girls Work anime actually gets some sort of announcement or promo other than ‘we’re still on it, please be patient’
• Madoka Movie 3 sells at least 200K combined BD/DVD
• Akame ga Kill anime adaptation announced – Long running action manga that has enough chapters to get one and after reading through it I rather liked it. It feels like the kind of action manga that would get an anime.
• Nitro+ continues to expand its anime portfolio (Hard mode: Urobuchi and mechanical designs don’t count) – A Nitro+ writer other than Gen Urobuchi gets major writing duties for an animated series (stuff like Haganeya writing a couple episodes of Guilty Crown doesn’t count), a Nitro+ artist does the character designs for a new show, or a Nitro+ work gets an anime adaptation. Mechanical designs don’t count since that’s probably too easy these days. Nitro+Chiral works also count in the adaptation bin.
• No Valvrave movie or other anime followup materializes within 2014 – Let it die a quiet death.
• Hataraku Maou-sama gets a season 2 announcement – As far as I can tell this is a pretty sure bet and I’d like to see it happen.
• New Devilman related anime project announced – Throwing the Hail Mary since the 40th anniversary already came and went without it, but this is something I would be very very happy with

• The Grisaia no Kajitsu adaptation will not air in 2014.
• A Rewrite anime adaptation will be announced. – Possible studios involved: JC Staff, White Fox, KyoAni, Deen
• White Album 2 will get another animated series in 2014.
• Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon will have a third animated series announcement in 2014.
• Tomino’s G-Reko project will not actually take fruit in 2014 and will be delayed or somesuch.
• The Gundam: The Origin anime adaptation will end up being another OVA series and not TV series.

• Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatte Irudarou ka anime – Don’t have much to say about this but it’s also on the top 10 of Kono Ranobe. Given the recent trend of “high fantasy” anime, it doesn’t sound too unreasonable.

• Joshi Motena Imouto to Junan na Ore anime announcement. – I know zilch about this series, but it’s an imouto-moe harem LN with eight volumes out, surely that has to count for something. It seemed like a safe bet at the time, he said, not knowing the horror that awaited him.
• Shokugeki no Souma anime announcement. – I don’t know anything about this either besides that a) it’s a cooking manga drawn by an ero-artist and running in WSJ of all things, b) all but one of the current WSJ series that debuted prior to it have adaptations already. Another probable safe bet.
• Accel World S2 announcement. – With the SAO announcement it feels like it’s about time for this to get another season as well. Also I want it to happen so I’m putting it on here, shut up.
• Mondaiji S2 announcement. – Novels sales exploded after the first season and with Kadokawa’s recent low-risk 10-episode please-buy-the-source-material strategy no reason why it shouldn’t get another.
• Rewrite anime. – There’s the Vita/PSP ports coming out this year, it’s been three years since the game was released, surely it should finally happen, bringing smiles to the faces of children and sugarplums to the dreams of happy animals and I have no idea where I was going with that.
• Wake Up Girls to bomb commercially and/or critically, Yamakan commits seppuku. – I originally had some long and retarded write-up here about Yamakan being cursed to make bad anime by the Moe Gods, but after watching the show all I have to say is that if by some miracle this piece of shit -doesn’t- bomb I will actually film a video of myself setting fire to a picture of Yamakan’s face while yelling incoherently.

• Kantai Collection’s sales will sink every other show that compete against it.

• Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches – It already got a drama CD and an anime PV which means… absolutely nothing. However LIDENFILMS is aching for a full-length anime debut and this guess could be as good as any.
• Highschool DxD S3 – This is a super cheap project for a franchise that keeps healthy sales so I think it’s not a matter of “if” but “when”.

• Kizumonogatari launches again in 2014 – Tatsuya Ooishi: Bakemonogatari’s director. No real work to speak of in 3 years. Confirmed to be at Shaft still through a Hidamari staff book. Nobuyuki Takeuchi: Bakemonogatari’s visual director. Barely any work in 3 years, but confirmed to be at Shaft still by some pieces of animation. Ryo Imamura: Bakemonogatari’s main animator. Jack shit in 3 years, yet we know he’s still there because now and then he draws 10 frames. Does this mean that Kizumonogatari’s production could have been occurring for years already, handled by a small number of core Shaft employees? Maybe. Could Aniplex keep delaying it until humanity is no more? Most likely. But it’s not Bingo if half the lists don’t mention that Kizu will or will not happen, so there you go.
• At least one latenight anime spinoff movie breaks one billion on box office – There’s a grand total of 3 movies that qualify for that. The thing is, two out of these three happened within the last 6 months. It’s a model that’s currently exploding, with more theaters showing this kind of movies and more companies considering it a viable production model. I’d be surprised if imas didn’t manage at least that much, honestly.
• Girls und Panzer bluray box – Nevermind making Bingo my wishlist, it’s going to be my buylist too. The original release was an insane mess and it’s not clear they ever managed to fill the demand, and with an OVA/movie incoming they get the chance to fix the mess they caused.
• Saki Zenkoku-hen outsells Achiga-hen – The first cours at any rate, if it ends up being split there’d be volumes being released until 2015. Anyway, it being part of the main story gives it a chance to sell closer to the original rather than a spinoff. I assume they’ll stay away from retarded 1-ep-per-disc releases this time, which should help. And just fuck Achiga in general.
• The next TakemotoxGatoh project isn’t a KyoAni IP – My mandatory KyoAni prediction. During their event to celebrate the success of their owned properties we got to hear a lot about those, and even future projects like the Tamaket movie (included due to Horiguchi’s slip of the tongue). Yet the only reason we got to know Takemoto had something in the works was an offhand, non-official comment by someone who was only helping around. I assume this means that whatever it is he’s making isn’t one of their series, meaning a possible comeback of Kadokawa. LITERAL LAST MINUTE UPDATE: That goddamn Amagi announcement almost made me change this, but there’s no staff for it yet so I’m safe. IT’S PROBABLY THIS GUYS.
• A 2014 show gets Trigger outsourced work – There was the possibility that with Trigger now producing their own series they’d stop doing that, but Yozakura did have one ep so I have to assume they won’t stop anytime soon. Purely a wish, since they tend to be cool episodes. Keep them coming.
• New Yuasa series in 2014 – His tweet asking for help for a 11 episodes series (thus likely noitaminA) feels like a red herring in that it’s too good to be true, but I still want to hope. I’d even do with his AnimeBancho show that they promised years ago. Just give me something, I feed on Yuasa cartoons.
• Idolmaster Cinderella Girls anime – I had it last year and will have it every year until it happens. They even made a PV with Kouno animation on it! And Bamco would never get Kouno to animate some amazing stuff for just a social game. Oh wait.
• Absolute Duo anime – The return of the glorious “let Amazon pick one random light novel for me” that worked so well last year. I keep getting stuff with short names though, which kills half the fun. This one is called Absolute Duo but all the covers feature different girls so I dunno what’s it about. I don’t even want to know.

Since there’s currently no new big LN to be adapted, people seem to have switched to manga predictions instead. Assassination Classroom takes over Mahouka as the new series everyone thinks will happened, followed by titles like Souma and Terraformars. Imas is in some way or the other in pretty much everyone’s lists, and stuff like FMP or Horizon are still common. It’s a bit surprising how Garupan has almost vanished, maybe the infinite delays for all of its new projects have made people forget its existence already. Also, we now have more people who believe Kizumonogatari will happen than not! What a bunch of dreamers.
