A ton of announcements, and this is all happening a week before Anime Japan, the E3 of cartoons!
- One Punch Man is getting an anime, since apparently the manga wasn’t animated enough already. Everyone is happy about this, as you can tell by the series being in one million bingo lists.
- MonMosu’s being animated as well, and either this contest is filled with cheap players going in for the easy point or your monstergirl fetishes are showing. Possibly both.
- Tamiki Wakaki is known for having a funny name and being a mangaka, but he hadn’t been doing much about the latter lately. Now he’s back with two new series though, to the delight of shippers.
- Someone bet on a new idol franchise launching with an anime (the equivalent of predicting that rain will in fact be wet, and this thing happened. The outfits look straight out of Exodus so it’s already become a parody in my mind.
- Garo sold fuck all blurays. That’s it, that’s the news. Someone predicted it would fare very poorly and it did. That’s worthy of a point in this twisted contest.
- A certain villain stole my expert tactic of predicting a LN adaptation randomly chosen by a site, and it proved fruithful again with the announcement of Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry‘s TV anime.
- You might know Megumi Kouno as the main (and best) animator of the idolmaster series, and not only is she back for Cinderella Girls but she’s also become a regular animation director! Excellent news. I’m glad Aniplex hasn’t rushed this project to the point of having to delay the second half of the broadcast to stop the production from falling apart. Oh wait.
- Doukyuusei’s getting animated by an incredible staff, to the delight of all BL fans. With Chieko Nakamura in there it pretty much is Reverse Yurikuma, queer anime is having a strong year.
- Let’s start this month’s Seiyuu Corner with the announcement that TrySail will be in charge of Denpa Kyoushi’s OP. My extensive knowledge of TrySail is having a friend who keeps yelling MOCHOOO.
- Amamiya Sora won a Best Rookie VA award at the 9th Seiyuu Awards, surely for sounding adorable in Isshuukan Friends.
- Also on the 9th, Natsuki Hanae was awarded Best Rookie for roles such as “Aldnoah’s cardboard robotic MC” and “that creepyass SAO2 molester. Hmmm I’m not seeing this one.
- Yuru Yuri is getting a third season, and the funniest thing about it is that it’s partly written by one of Urobuchi’s bros.
- Fresh out of the oven cartoon news, Symphogear’s third season is airing this summer. I wish I had the skills required to come up with a name like “Senki Zesshou Symphogear GX: Believe in Justice and Hold a Determination to Fist.”
