The time has come, the third Anime Bingo is about to begin. Back when it first started we had naive people wishing for Kizumonogatari to exist, and nowadays we have the same naive people except they’re 2 years older. Half the hits to this blog are people googling “Kizumonogatari anime release” and I’m proud of it. Anyway, you should know how it goes at this point – send your lists containing 9 guesses related to the anime industry that you think will come true (or not) in 2015. You can reach me at mawapen at gmail dot com, on Twitter @Yuyucow, on the Rizon IRC and about a million places more. The deadline is January 15, so you’ve still got a couple weeks to come up with your lists. The more impatient people have already been sending their lists over the last few days so go ahead if you think you’re ready. Explaining the reasoning behind your predictions isn’t neccessary, but it’s encouraged to do so. Just think how cool you’ll look when you get something right and you can prove the guess didn’t come out straight out of your bumhole. The rules aren’t changing this year, but here they are so newbies and people with bad memory don’t have to scroll down:

  • The contest consists of two parts: the first person to reach 5 points and the one with the most points at the end. In case no one gets that many (highly unlikely, considering how last year went) then we’d only have one winner.
  • Anything qualifies as long as it’s related to anime and newsworthy. New anime announcements are going to populate everyone’s lists, but anything from “Mizuki Nana to marry Yukari Tamura” to “My little sister is a Zombie becomes this decade’s top seller” is fair game. That includes western news, if they’re remarkable enough (so “Sentai licenses every show of any given season” is a no-go, but “Nozomi to release Utena’s blurays on the US” works). In any case, I’ll email you back if there’s any entry that clearly breaks this rule.
  • The line between rumors and announcements can be quite blurry at times so I’m willing to accept projects that have been confirmed but haven’t officially launched. Those will obviously not count until there’s an actual announcement, be it the launch of an official site or reports by real press (and, as much as ANN might think otherwise, Yaraon is no official source). Again, if there’s anything that goes over the line I’ll contact you and ask for a new prediction.
  • Since it happened multiple times last year – don’t worry if one of your predictions comes true before the 15th, it obviously won’t count but you can send a replacement.

Best of luck to everyone, and don’t be afraid to sign up. Half the fun comes from mocking people who know more than you do but get right less things.
